How Digital Marketing Fueled Fashion Label Tory Burch’s Global Expansion
It seems like there are endless emails being sent about Cyber Monday now that Black Friday has passed. It’s hard to believe how successful they might be? Often I wonder who really does their social media campaign efficiently enough to actually generate more sales online than in physical stores, I found my answer with Mashable’s article on Tory Burch. Here is a small sample of the article:
Much of her success can be linked to an aggressive digital strategy, says Miki Berardelli, who has served as chief marketing officer of Tory Burch since 2009. The company launched ecommerce immediately after opening its first shop in downtown Manhattan, and toryburch.com generates more revenue than any physical store. Burch is one of the few designers to maintain a direct, ongoing dialogue with her friends and fans onTwitter, which she does in an easy-going and authentic manner. The company’s blog, which is helmed by former InStyle editor Honor Brodie, is broadly recognized in the industry as one of the leading manifestations of ongoing, brand-developed content.

6 Ways to Be More Persuasive With Social Media
As always, Mashable posted a great article on Being More Persuasive with Social Media, here are their Top Six Ways to get it done but with a Valentina twist to it.
1. Reciprocation – The Oldest Trick in the Book
like everything in life, it’s all about favors, you give something to someone with the hope that they do something in return, you teach them something or sell them a product but hope they mention it to others through WOM or Social Media
2. Social Proof – Don’t Be Left Behind
folks like to be where the party is at, build an audience, make it interesting, provide value, and they’ll come!
3. Liking – Never Met a Stranger
be yourself: being funny, personable, or very friendly helps!
4. Authority – Why You Must Listen to Me
show it off, your expertise, your experience, etc…people need to see proof!
5. Scarcity – Last Chance to Be Popular
play it hard to get!
6. Commitment and Constancy – Don’t Go Back on Your Word
follow through!
I really suggest reading the actual post from Mashable about being more persuasive to see examples, stories, and more comprehensive explanation.

Startup Savvy, Book Review
I recently met Aundrea Wilcox, MBA she is the Executive Director of the KOSBE- The Small Business Connection which is part of the Kingsport Area Chamber of Commerce. I had been following her on Twitter for a couple of weeks before I decided to purchase her book, Startup Savvy: Strategies for Optimizing Small Business Survival and Success.
As person who has just completed a Master’s of Business Administration degree I have been inclined to start my own business. But as a newbie to TN from FL, I wanted to get a sense of the culture before launching to the commitment of starting a business. I believe Aundrea provides a great insight about how to start a biz plan, using (free) resources through the SBA & TSBDC, real stories of locals who have launched their own business in this area. I highly recommend slowly reading her final chapter: 40-Love Then Game.
