I suggest to actually listen to the 1 hr webinar but you if you don’t have the time, don’t worry, I have taken the main bullet points that could be applicable to small business owners (especially those with restaurant, stores, providing a service with a physical location) and posted the tips below

- 6.8 Billion People on Planet, 4.0 Billion own a mobile phone, 3.5 Billion own a toothbrush
- By 2013, Number 1 way to access internet is by Smartphone (Gartner Group)
- Mobile Coupon generate 10x redemption rate of traditional coupons (coolness factor to showing to friends on social media platforms)
- 70% of all mobile searches are acted upon within a hr vs. 30% of all traditional searches

- Keep the fields limited
- Remove Corporate Bios, keep quick things
- Analyze customer sequences (i.e. “Italian restaurant” being searched, provide location, menus, any promo)

- Avoid Flash & Videos
Short Message Service (SMS): According to CTIA.org text messages are read within 4 minutes of receipt, as opposed to 48 hours for email
Essential things to know about mobile paid search
- Voice searches are huge!
- Separate your regular desktop searches from your mobile search campaign
- Be sure to add mobile-oriented terms to your keyword list: Locations (e.g. “Pizza Hut Locations”), Addresses (e.g. “Walmart Location Peachtree Street”), Zip Codes (e.g. “UPS Store Locations near 30342″) and Urgency Terms (e.g. “Plumbing Emergency”)
- Claim your biz
- Reward first-time visitors
- Change deals often
- Promote group check-ins (the more the better the deal)
- Interact with customers – make them accomplish a task (such as Origami)
- Promote to those checking-in nearby (famous Chilli’s example of giving free appetizer)
Mobile Display Ads (ideas)
- User clicks ad, which then uses GPS technology to identify location & directs them to nearest store (Lexus example)
- User interacts with brand by uploading picture from their photo file into the branded Ad (Coca-Cola)
- User clicks an ad to send a coupon code via SMS to any recipient (McDonalds)
- User is encouraged to add company contact info into their contact list (GeekSquad) when computer problems occur, their contact info is already on your phone
- Users are encouraged to email promo offers to themselves & friends (Target)
- User is encouraged to add an event or activity to their calendar
- User is encouraged to take a pic of themselves which is subsequently added into the branded Ad (Puma) user is entered into a shopping spree

- Searched for local products/services 18%
- Searched for info on restaurants/bars 13%
- Searched for stuff outside local area 11%
- Purchased physical item that shipped 4%
- Used coupon from mobile phone 4%
Mobile Paid Search: less competition than traditional searches (less people using, bid for keywords is less expensive) Always add a link saying “Find out where we are by clicking here”
